Nabil brings over 32 years of experience to the hotel industry, including a Master's degree from Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration.

Nabil's hospitality career began in Toronto with Pizza Hut Canada and led him to Poland overseeing the busiest Pizza Hut in the country.

His Cornell degree landed him a job with Wyndham in San Francisco before moving to Chicago in 1998 where he operated numerous Wyndham Hotels. This experience prepared Nabil for his work with Kimpton Hotels as the GM at the award-winning Hotel Monaco Chicago, followed by the opening of The Hotel Palomar in River North in 2010. In 2012, Nabil assumed an Area Director of Operations role with Kimpton. He subsequently opened the Kimpton Gray Hotel in 2016 and continued his work as Regional Director of Operations in the Midwest. After a couple of years working with IHG/Kimpton Corporate, in 2024 Nabil took over as GM of the historic InterContinental Chicago on the Magnificent Mile and maintained his regional responsibilities.

A native of Canada he has lived and worked in Cyprus, Nigeria, Singapore and Germany and is fluent in German and French.

Moubayed was the 2016 Chairman of the Board of the Illinois Hotel and Lodging Association (IHLA) and also the Chair of the IHLA’s Education Foundation. He is active with the Hotel Employers Labor Relations Association as Chairman in 2026 and serves on the Board of the Mag Mile Association. Previous board seats include the Chicago Loop Alliance and Kendall College’s Hospitality Advisory Board.

In his spare time Moubayed is an avid soccer player, golfer and enjoys traveling to new destinations with his wife and two children.
